We have been learning about Buddhism as it was Nirvana Day this week.  We found out how Buddhism started and how Buddhists live their life.  We explored meditation and made a Mandala.

2nd February ’21

Today, we led an assembly to Class 6 and Class 10.  It was all about Chinese New Year.  We talked about how people prepare for it by cleaning the home.  For part of it, we made paper Chinese dragons.  Here are some photographs of us cleaning and our Chinese dragons.  I have also attached the instructions on how to make them.  Go on, have a go! We would love to see how you get on!

22nd January ’21

We have really enjoyed learning our number bonds and 2 digit numbers using numicons.

Owen has been working hard at home on English, Maths, Science, History and Food Technology.  He made this amazing lemon cake – doesn’t it look delicious! Well done Owen!

15th January 2021

As you will know, each class had to create a snow sculpture!  We based ours on our reading book, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  We would love to know what you think of it!

13th January 2021

Happy New Year everyone!

This term, our theme is Geography.  Our reading book is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis and our music theme is from Narnia – Only The Beginning Of The Adventure by Neon.

In Enterprise this term, we will be making items to sell for Valentine’s Day.  We have carried out some research and experimented making some things that we think people might buy for someone special.  Bethany made a flower arrangement independently! Isn’t it beautiful?

14th December ’20

We have had a fun couple of weeks celebrating Christmas at school – from finding a sleigh which had crashed in our courtyard, having snowball fights, exploring the outdoor Christmas classroom, making marks in the snow on the playground, making a celebration cake, making gifts to sell for Enterprise and having a magical Christmas tree that grew overnight! Phew! It’s time for 2 weeks off! We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from Class 7!

1st December ’20

We have been busy making Christmas gifts to sell for Enterprise and we have enjoyed decorating our classroom for Christmas.  We have also been learning about Christingle and what each of the components on the Christingle mean.  Have a look at our photos to show you what we have learned.  Why don’t you have a go at making your own Christingles at home.  We would love to see how you have got on!

16th November ’20

We have had a great couple of weeks learning all about Diwali.  We have read and acted out the story of Rama and Sita – you can see the photos of the different scenes.  Can you tell what character is in each photo and what is happening in each scene?

Why don’t you have a go at making a Diwali paper lantern.  Feel free to email your photos – we would love to see how you got on!

Hello everyone! Due to room changes, we are now Class 7!  Our learning focus this week has been based on Bonfire Night.  We have written poems all about Bonfire Night and we presented them to other classes during our class assembly.  Have a look at our photos!

8th October ’20

In Science, we have been learning about changes of state. We have carried out lots of experiments, learning about solids and liquids by melting, freezing and dissolving.  Here are some photos of us making jelly in Food Technology, changing a solid into a liquid into a solid! We also made a colour rainbow by mixing the three different primary colours and predicting what colour they will make.  Using kitchen roll and water, it created a (kind of!) colour rainbow.  Why don’t you have a go at home and see if you can get some better results than ours – we would love to see your photos and hear how you got on!  Here is the experiment:

24th September ’20

We have been learning all about Hinduism in our RE lessons.  We have created a Puja display and learned all about this worship.

In Maths, we all have been working hard on our individual targets – doubling, halving, sharing and recognising and applying mathematical symbols.

We have enjoyed our computing lessons, researching for Enterprise and learning using interactive programmes.

10th September ’20

We have had a lovely start to the term sharing what we have been up to during the Summer.  We have written postcards to different people, telling them about our favourite part of our holidays and we have displayed them in our room.

We have also been enjoying our time with the new playground equipment!
