Class 5

Welcome to Class 5.

The class team of Julie, Hayley W, Paula, Claire, Maz, Kirsty, Hayley and Steph wish you a Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to the Spring term 2021. Julie (teacher) will be teaching in class on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Hayley W (teacher) will be teaching in class Monday and Friday.

Our topic for this term will be Geography based, as we explore ‘Our World’.  We will be picking up our class passports and zooming off to different countries around the world, as we learn all about them.  We will be studying maps and globes to gain a better understanding about ‘Our World’ and will virtually visit a range of places as we go through the term.

Week commencing 11/01/2021.

The children have been working really hard on our new topic, ‘Our World’.  They have created their own passports, identified flags from the British Isles and also flown off to Kenya where they have met Handa and her African animals.  You can see from the photos how hard they have all been working!

Week commencing 30/11/2020.

This week we have been decorating the school and classroom ready for Christmas. The children have had fun making Christmas decorations and Snow flakes. We have been busy rehearsing and filming our Christmas production ready for you to see next week.

Week Commencing 23/11/2020.

Bake off came back to Class 5 this week. We have been making jam tarts. The children have rolled out the pastry, greased the tin and inserted the fillings. They have also selected the correct tools to use as well as chosen the appropriate sized cutting tool. We were going to choose a superstar baker, however they were all so good, that they all won the award!.

We hope you all had a wonderful half term holiday. Since being back at school we have been very busy with our new topic Traditional tales. We have been retelling the story of The 3 Little Pigs and sequencing it in the correct order.

We have been continuing our work in Food Technology. The children are developing lots of skills in chopping, mixing and rolling out as we make cookies, fruit salads, smoothies and scones.

The children are continuing to be brilliant at washing their hands. We have also made posters showing our talents that are going to be displayed around school.

We have continued our topic work, whilst using number lines to help count items and decide what number comes next.
In music we are looking at songs and music related to our topic and explored percussion instruments.

We have had busy start to the new term.  In our topic ‘Changes’ we have learned about the Life-cycle of a butterfly and lots of other work linked to our book- The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  We have researched where the fruit in the story has come from and located these on a map.

Butterfly symmetry work has formed part of our display.

Our working together group focuses on our physical development.
