Curriculum Enrichment

The curriculum for all pupils is enriched in various ways to ensure creative opportunities for learning. This includes visits to school by music, theatre and drama groups etc and residential visits locally, nationally and internationally.

Our school has forged strong links with New College Nottingham and hosts regular visits from their pop and rock bands. The pupils greatly enjoy these visits and soak up the atmosphere of loud live music.

Similarly we have twice yearly visits from the theatre group M and M Productions. In the Autumn Term they always perform a classic story for the whole school. Recently we have enjoyed performances of Charlotte’s Web, Oliver Twist and The Railway Children. The Spring Term always begins with rousing pantomimes which have included Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Puss in Boots. Again this offers the pupils the opportunity to experience live musical theatre in school.

As well as watching theatre performances our pupils also have opportunities to be involved in interactive multi-sensory experiences. For example Bamboozle Theatre Company have visited with experiences for our most complex children which included live music, puppets and a huge multi-sensory jellyfish.

Other visitors to school include a local Minister who leads interactive assemblies at special times of the year for example Christingle at Christmas and Easter Holy week.
